Westbank

Just across the Mississippi

Cross the Crescent City Connection coming from Downtown New Orleans, here you will find yourself on the Westbank. The Westbank encompasses cities like Gretna, Algiers, Harvey, Marrero, Terrytown, Belle Chasse and several more. If you are looking at your map, you will sometimes notice you are traveling “East” as you head towards the Westbank but this is due to the curves of the Mississippi River. The Westbank is actually located to the South of the Mississippi River. Some areas of the Westbank have historical significance, with homes that are over 100 years old in certain parts of areas like Gretna and Algiers. For one of the best views of the New Orleans City landscape, catch the ferry at Algiers Point.
